The atmosphere is somehow both family-friendly and date-night special at the same time...
As of today- you can find a Thai restaurant around every 3 miles from Ashburn to Brambleton- some within less than one mile of each other! I can think of 6 off the top of my head that are all within 5 miles of my front door. So it’s crucial for these restaurants to have something that makes them stand out. I’m not a huge fan of Asian cuisine- I enjoy it well enough but I would rather have a steak and potatoes any day. But since my family loves Thai, we’ve checked out several of the local Thai choices. Enter Anothai…
Anothai is not only a good neighbor- a supporter of Broadlands Live! in 2007 & 2008, for example, but they also consistently go the extra mile in S.A.M.- Service, Atmosphere and Menu. A mediocre meal can be forgiven by great service, but mediocre service can ruin a great meal. At Anothai, mediocrity is non-existent. Your glass is always full, your meal arrives hot and fresh, and your friendly server is knowledgeable of the menu, and rarely more than a glance away. Regardless of which server takes care of you at Anothai, you will feel welcome and well taken care of. The atmosphere is somehow both family-friendly and date-night special at the same time. Beautiful, authentic looking décor and the occasional violin duo playing softly during dinner create a welcoming ambiance to dine with whomever, whenever.
The menu boasts a collection of standard and original dishes from both Northern and Southern Thailand, and even off the menu specialties for the adventurous diner- just ask. The fresh variety of herbs makes a measurable difference in the intensity & character that each dish offers. Karim’s Duck simply melts in your mouth. With each bite, you can sense the crispy basil leaves with your nose before you taste them on your palate. My personal favorite is Pork in the Garden: tender slices of pork, marinated and flavored with lime and garlic. The spices in this dish have such depth and zest- I find myself skipping the rice! Pair this dish with their exotic white wine from Thailand- just ask your server- they’ll know… The appetizers are special in many ways- among them- that they are not greasy if they are fried, and as much care goes into their freshness and preparation as the main dishes. The Gai Hom Thong demonstrates Anothai’s ability to balance chicken, spices, and vegetables to create a delightful combination, of the dish itself, complemented by the cucumber salad. Anothai shines above the nearby competition because they compel you to return again and again- for the Service, Atmosphere, and of course, the Menu.
Anothai Passes with Flying Colors!
