My husband and I ate here the first week Not Your Average Joes (NYAJ from here on) opened, and we’ve been back 3 times since. Never disappointed, always impressed. We’ve tried a variety of entrees on the menu- from the Goat Cheese and Sun-dried Tomato Pizza, to most recently the Grilled Duck Breast with a balsamic citrus glaze served with Portabella Mushroom Polenta.  Oh yeah- we’ve also enjoyed dishes as simple as Crab Cake BLT Sandwiches and Grilled Black Angus Sirloin Meatloaf. 

NYAJ lives up to its name by providing an original and diverse menu that truly has a plate for every palate. I love that I can eat Joe’s Kitchen Sink Pizza while my husband eats Mediterranean Chicken and my son eats Crispy Asian Chicken Rolls- creative, casual, cuisine- indeed! Great portions- ample to share, yet not so big that I feel like a glutton when I clean my plate! Beware- you are always in danger of filling up on the  basket of warm, crusty bread that NYAJ serves gratis with an addictive mixture of fine olive oil, a blend of Parmesan and Romano cheeses, and pepper flakes. 

The atmosphere easily combines casual family dining and a fun fully-stocked bar for kid-free fun. (The Bloody Marys are- simply put- faaahbulous! Spicy, balanced, and full of flavor. ) On our latest visit NYAJ was pretty full- it was a Sunday evening- and I noticed the wise way the hostess seated customers. The kid free folks were near the bar- the lighting is slightly dimmer, the feeling is more cozy. The families were seated on the other side of a ¾ wall, a little brighter lighting, but not uncomfortably so- the kitchen was nearby so kiddos could watch and be entertained by the action on the stoves. Really savvy seating…. Way to go NYAJ!
