Clearly, will power when dining is not my strong suit. So now and then, I need to drop 20 lbs so I can slowly put it back on as I eat my way across Loudoun County! And that's when I allow Diet to Go to make delicious, healthy choices for me... RUNNING BLOG ON EACH MEAL INCLUDED ON THIS PAGE __ ![]() Diet to Go has been a prelude to several trips in my life: trip to Jamaica, trip to Miami, trip to Kohl's to buy bigger pants... luckily I never had to make that LAST trip! I love to eat, and let's face it- reviews for burgers and tiramisu don't write themselves. The tough part for me is making smart choices that taste delicious that are in the right portions to control my weight. So Diet to Go was the perfect answer: excellent variety of foods that I liked, conveniently packaged and including everything I need for the meal. Twice a week pick ups right here in the neighborhood mean I don't have to store a bunch of food, and everything is fresh. A few minutes in the microwave and my smart and delicious meal is ready. I'm a true fan. Do I like every meal? No- but they conveniently allow you to substitute, so I can build a menu that I know I can stick with until 20 lbs. is gone! This review will be different than all others: I am actually going to give you my humble and abbreviated opinion on each meal, adding to it each day. I don't think any eating plan will work if a) you don't like the food or b) still feel hungry after eating the allotted portion. Neither of these are issues with Diet to Go, so if you're looking into a convenient way to control your food intake--- read on and enjoy! Save $25 on your full meal plan order! Before I pop this one into the microwave, I slice the sausage up on the green beans... makes me feel like I'm sinning a little while eating veggies! I highly recommend this breakfast item- very filling, needs no additional seasoning and it simply tastes great. LUNCH- BAKED CAJUN SALMON Okay first of all the portion was HUGE- I couldn't finish it. A squeeze of lemon was all I added to this dish- the salmon was tender, lightly flavored with cajun spices, and not overly fishy. The veggies have a slightly cremy tomato and pepper sauce on them and are as always, fresh, crisp and delicous. BREAKFAST- SPICY HAM AND EGG SOFRITO My hopes weren't high when I saw this one- tons of scrambled eggs with a pile of julienne ham in the middle... I thought it would be dry and bland. But after I heated it up, strirred it around to find sweet marinated onions mixed with a spicy tomato puree, and took my first bite- I was REALLY pleased. The eggs are soft and fluffy, the ham- tender and flavorful- YUM! This will definitely satisfy me until lunch today... Parmesan Chicken Wings- can't wait to try those! LUNCH- PARMESAN CHICKEN WINGS These looked and sounded delicious- served with a creamy bleu cheese sauce and marinated artichoke salad- and they did NOT disappoint! Loads of flavor and the wings were very meaty. The artichoke salad was sooo good- tangy Italian herbs and (i think) light olive oil- sinfully good. I think one thin gthat makes these meals work SO well is that you are satisfied by the food. There is nothing bland or boring about this meal- the only improvment for me would be making it boneless. BREAKFAST- STEAK & EGGS This was really tasty but just too much food for me! The steak was cooked medium, very tender and with a light mushroom cream sauce. The eggs were fine- admittedly I make terrific scrambled eggs, so I'm pretty picky, but they were better than I expected. The asparagus was good too- I think there was olive oil on it- I added absolutely no seasoning to it and finished every bite. Definitely enough food for a man! LUNCH- CHICKEN SOUFFLE′ Fabulous. Tender chucks of white meat chicken baked into a light egg and spinach mix- it was like a very light quiche! The dill green beans on the side were very tasty- I've never thought of preparing them that way- now I can't wait to make these myself on the side of a nice peice of salmon. Another sizable portion- I don't even snack during the day because these meals fill me up completely. DINNER- TURKEY CHILI So I switched to traditional low calorie (1200 a day) meals- I simply couldn't finish the low carb meals every day! This turkey chili is OUTRAGEOUS. Great flavor, chunks of ground turkey, beans and tomatoes- I am loving it. the corn muffin on the side is aldo delicious- I think there are jalepenos in it...? Anyway- VERY saitsfying meal- I don't even feel like I am dieting!
