| My Thai Place~ Thai Cuisine |

You don't have to leave Ashburn to experience upscale dining in an oh so hip atmosphere- there's a delicious slice of the cool world nestled right in Brambleton Towne Center!
If you've read my other reviews, you know that rice-based cuisines are among my least favorite: I am a beef and potatoes girl to the core. So I was really surprised when I not only thoroughly enjoyed every bite at My Thai Place, but I wasn't even hungry an hour later! The first surprise hit me when we opened the door- the striking décor is a huge contrast to most places in Ashburn! Fairy LED lights playing on the ceiling, the fully stocked bar is accented with a glass encase waterfall panel, funky club music bumping in the background, and best of all- low, flattering lighting makes my skin look 10 years younger! We started with the Fresh Summer Rolls: chicken, fresh basil, carrots and bean sprouts wrapped in rice paper. Aside from the fresh, delicate flavor and the excellent accompanying peanut sauce- we were impressed by how neat these were to eat. Nothing falls or pulls out when you take a bite- I just thought that was worth mentioning... We also tried the Steamed Dumplings, which I couldn't have because of the shrimp (allergy.) But The Man and The Boy both enjoyed them- The Boy said there were "too many tastes to pick out- but they all taste good together!" So there you go. Our entrées were so distinctively different- we couldn't pick a favorite. The Boy's Spicy Beef Fried Rice: lots of tender beef, crisp vegetables, and piquant spices made every bite a pleasure. The Man's Pad Pik Khing- chicken and string beans with chili paste and coconut milk- was spicy and sweet perfectly mingled. The chicken was the juiciest white meat I have ever had in Asian food. My Pad Woon Sen was delightfully different than any Thai dish I've ever tried. Clear, bean thread noodles with succulent chicken, plenty of egg, mushroom, tomato and onion- ordinary ingredients with extraordinary flavor! I can honestly say I don't know WHY it was so good- it simply was. I was thrilled that My Thai Place didn't drown the dishes in sauce- balanced preparation allowed you to taste the high quality of each meat, veggie and spice. Another pleasant surprise: we didn't have an ounce of leftovers. Every onion, pepper and ‘shroom was scraped from its place and devoured. Dessert was almost indescribably delicious. Anyone out there remember strawberry PDQ? Imagine a hunk of fresh strawberry ice cream rolled in a slightly gummy PDQ covered coating- this is their version of Strawberry Moci. The flavor brought back memories from when I was The Boy's age- I am so glad we tried it! Another plate licked clean... almost literally. The service was just perfect. Friendly, attentive, prompt and without a single misstep. The service alone was enough to make you want to come back. This is the kind of place that I can't wait to bring my friends to. It's the atmosphere you want to socialize in, the food you want to share, and the attention that makes you feel like a rock star. I am officially naming Thai as my favorite Asian cuisine, because~ My Thai Place Passes with Flying Colors! 42385 Ryan Road, # 104 Brambleton, VA (703) 327-5900 http://www.mythaiplace.com/
