I do NOT have a green thumb, and loathe being responsible for keeping anything alive. The Boy and The Dog are the only living things in my care that I haven’t somehow managed to destroy…

The Man thought I was joking when I suggested fake plants for our deck, but I wasn’t. Given the choice between knocking off some dust and cobwebs over watering, fertilizing, pruning and caring… helloooo Michaels- lead me to the “Fake-us” instead of a Ficus!
We headed to Blue Mount Nursery for some weed killer, even though I think the clover is prettier than boring ol’ grass... but I lost that battle. The outstanding level of service and knowledge demonstrated by every staff member is something every customer-facing business should put into practice! From weed killer recommendations to pointing out which plants I could completely ignore and they would still find a way to live- this team knows its stuff and enjoys helping customers.
We dealt with four different people within their respective specialties. All were extremely friendly experts in their field, and eager to answer questions and address concerns. One delightful woman saved us money by pointing us to a higher quality of soil than the one we were looking at- it would benefit the type of plant we chose and cost less! (And I thought dirt was dirt… who knew??) A kind man shared details about plants for our front porch- from my two big concerns- “do I HAVE to water it and will it attract bees,” to the Man’s “will it have leaves all year and how well does it do with prolonged sun exposure?” He gave us several clear recommendations, which look gorgeous on my porch as I write this review.
If you're looking to pretty up your landscaping or care for your lawn, add whimsical accessories to your garden or even stock a pond with koi fish- this is the place to go. They even said that if I do see a problem with a plant, bring back a piece, and they’ll analyze the problem and help us fix it!
It may be slightly more expensive for some items than a chain store, but if your time is valuable, and you expect the best service, value and products- not just the cheapest- do yourself a favor by checking out this wonderful local gem, because~
