Sometimes what should be a simple, quick errand turns into an all-out nightmare: the products you need are unavailable, you end up in line behind someone paying in pennies, dealing with inept personnel with no clue about customer service… the list goes on. So when the OPPOSITE happens, it clearly deserves a Flying Colors Review!
~~ One would think that since I have been squinting and misreading everything from recipes and party invitations for years, I would have been tested for glasses a long time ago. No… not this gal. When I caught a glimpse of myself wearing a squint so fierce that it created a crease between my eyes that you could run a credit card through- I accepted the fact that I may need glasses. Vanity- not health… it’s this woman’s curse. I dreaded the inevitably painful process of picking out frames- if you’ve read my other reviews you know two things- I hate to shop, and I have horrible taste in all thing fashion- accessories included! So I brought the experts along with me- The Boy and The Man. Armed with my prescription and their fashionable taste, we headed for Dr. Bermel’s Optometry office in Junction Plaza, on several recommendations on the neighborhood HOA message board. We were greeted immediately by Janet, the friendly, knowledgeable associate who obviously had the same agenda that I did: get my glasses- get me going! She was efficient, intuitive and a real pleasure to work with. Their selection is huge- Armani, Gucci, Dior, and a million brands I didn’t recognize were nicely laid out for easy perusal. The Man apparently thinks I have plans to be photographed in Vogue sometime soon- he chose Prada glasses encrusted with gems. Janet was more in my zone, sensible frames that fit my face with no bling! But the champion of this trip was The Boy. When he walked in, he pointed at a pair in a case and said- “Mom- those.” 20 pairs later, he pleaded- “Mom! Pleeeze just try THOSE!” I put them on and they were perfect. The Boy has fantastic taste! The Man loved them- said they gave me a naughty librarian look… whatever makes him take me out for steak- I’ll use it. Janet told me they would be ready in 7-10 days, so imagine my joy when 5 days later she called and said my glasses were ready! I walked in at 10:03am on a Saturday morning, and walked out at 10:08am, perfectly fitting glasses on my face. This kind of efficiency is exactly what we all want- the right product, informed associates knowing their job well, and friendly, efficient delivery of goods. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Bermel’s Optometry- and look forward to getting my second pair of glasses here. They accept VSP, and other common vision plans, offer exams, and run a clean, tight ship.
