| Amvrosia~ Greek & Italian |

This is one of those reviews that should have been written a long time ago- a great restaurant right under my nose that I’ve been to on several occasions and enjoyed my meal every time. A family owned and operated business with excellent customer service and pride in every dish that comes out of the kitchen...
~ ... and a local gem with a delightful atmosphere and fabulous staff! Amvrosia loosely translates from Greek to “food of the gods”, and lives up to its name. They specialize in Greek and Italian specialties in portions large enough to share but delicious enough not to! Today,The Man, The Boy and I went to breakfast there, which they serve on Saturdays and Sundays. The place was jumping with business and yet we were seated right away and our server, Michael was efficient, friendly and came to take our order in a timely fashion. Traditional Greek folk music of lyres and mandolins tinkled overhead filling me with the strange urge to break my plate and holler “Opa!” at the top of my lungs. But I maintained my composure, so as not to embarrass The Boy, and be charged for a plate in addition to my meal. I ordered the special- Tasos Benedict- which is an Eggs Benedict that replaces the Canadian bacon with tender slices of gyro meat, and comes with a healthy side of tender yet crisp home fried potatoes. Simply wonderful- the smooth, creamy hollandaise sauce had an original flavor with spices that complemented the gyro meat nicely. It was more than I could eat- which was good news for The Man, who always finds room to finish what I started. The Boy had a sausage egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel with a side of cheese grits, and The Man ordered the country breakfast that included biscuits and gravy. Both enjoyed their soft fluffy eggs, flavorful sausage links (Boy) and crisp, lean bacon (Man.) The Boy was really happy with his breakfast and said, “Mommy- this place is awesome because when you ask for something special, they give it to you, no problem- kaBAAM! Grits with cheese on the side- kaBAAM! Gravy on the side instead of on the biscuits- kaBAAM! I LIKE this place…” Michael, our waiter, was accommodating of every request and it was a real pleasure meeting him. In the past I’ve also enjoyed their Italian entrées, notably the Linguini Carbonara. So rich, so decadent, so… Amvrosia-like! The key to what I consider a fabulous carbonara sauce is balance. Not too thick with egg, just enough bacon and onion, and of course- perfectly cooked pasta just slightly al dente and blended so carefully with the sauce that it seems each strand was individually dipped… yeah- that’s what you get at Amvrosia. Most people aren’t fortunate enough to live in a neighborhood with so many choices for outstanding cuisine from so many different countries. Amvrosia is one more example of a well run, reasonably priced original restaurant where you can relax in over breakfast with your family, enjoy date night on Sunday or Monday which are both ½ price bottle of wine nights, choose to celebrate a special occasion, or bring your kid’s sports team for dinner- since kids eat free on Tuesdays. Regardless- there’s always reason to take some time to give this place a try, because~ Amvrosia Passes with Flying Colors! ![]() 43670 Greenway Corporate Dr Ashburn, VA 20147 703-858-2200 OTHER INFO: ½ PRICE WINE ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY EVENINGS KIDS EAT FREE ON TUESDAYS BREAKFAST SERVED ON THE WEEKENDS Click the links below for daily specials!
